After her people are captured, Nubian princess Aida finds herself entangled in a guilt-marked romance with an Egyptian military leader, Radames, who is already betrothed to Amneris, the Pharaoh’s daughter. After becoming Amneris’ confidante, Aida’s duties to her friend, her heart, and her people become at odds. Meanwhile, Chief Minister Zoser plots to expedite his son Radames’ royal ascension by poisoning the Pharaoh.
Elton John and Tim Rice's "Aida" is a rock musical based on Ghislanzoni and Verdi’s tragic opera. Our production aims to promote dialogue surrounding the reggae, Motown, gospel, and pop elements of the score. Through our music and dance, we hope to capture the core of this musical, reminding our audience that advocating for equity can't rest solely on the oppressed.
