The Harvard Summer Chorus celebrates its 90th anniversary with Freedom’s Song: American Voices at 250, commemorating the 250th anniversary of the United States and the signing of the Declaration of Independence. Conducted by Andrew Clark, Harvard’s Director of Choral Activities, the program explores the many voices of America through works that reflect the nation’s ideals, struggles, and creative spirit.

The concert features William Schuman’s Pulitzer Prize-winning A Free Song, Lukas Foss’s Psalms, Dan Locklair’s setting of Maya Angelou’s On the Pulse of Morning, Rosephanye Powell’s tribute to scholar and Harvard professor Eileen Southern, and Hallelujah Junction by John Adams ‘69.

Together, these works trace a musical journey across 250 years of American imagination, celebrating voices that challenge, inspire, and shape the nation’s ongoing story.
